Program Description
Warsaw is full of history, but few places tell the story of Poland’s monarchy quite like the Royal Castle. During the visit, you will discover the history of the former royal residence, learn how Warsaw became the capital of Poland and explore representative interiors filled with works of art and historic paintings.
Your visit begins at Castle Square, one of the most recognisable places in Warsaw’s Old Town. Your guide will introduce you to the history of the castle and explain what happened to the building during the bombing of Warsaw in 1939.
You will then explore the Royal Castle’s interiors, including richly decorated apartments, chambers and representative halls. Historic decorations, paintings and works of art offer an insight into the character of the former residence of Poland’s monarchs.
As you move through the castle, you will also learn about Poland’s last monarchs and the events connected with the residence. Your guide’s stories will help place the interiors and artworks within their wider historical context.
